Meet Dr. Michelle Y. Uekihara

I was born in Japan and moved to Novi, Michigan with my family when I was 3 months old. Since then I have lived globally, spending my childhood in Japan, Hawaii and Michigan. I was fortunate to live in these cities and it ingrained in me to see the world with appreciation and respect for diversity.

Following my graduation from Novi high school and completion of my undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor with a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene, I worked in the dental field for many years while preparing for the next step in my future.

Dentistry was not the only future path I had in mind. I knew it was going to be in the healthcare field but I was focused on the end goal, which was to expand the scope and ability to reach people, whatever that looked like. I really enjoy having a human connection and being able to serve through my hands and feet and through faith I decided to choose dentistry and committed myself to go all in.

I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. I have never looked back at this decision and I am truly blessed to have found a profession that challenges my intellect, engages me physically and allows me to make a difference in a person’s life.

My approach to dentistry is through compassion and collaboration. I welcome all patients regardless of the stage in their own dental health journey, listen to their concerns, and spend my time explaining treatments that can be understood simply. I value honest conversations, supporting your dental goals and healthy smiles and most importantly, knowing you for more than your teeth.
